Phoebe sat on the board of directors of the Hearst Corporation from 1962 to 1998 as the Chairperson. Today 100% of the stakes of Heart Corp. is estimated at about $90 billion. In 1996, she was inducted into the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum’s Hall of Fame. She also supported a variety of philanthropic causes with one of the nation’s biggest fortunes. She and her husband lived in the upscale bay for most of their 45 year marriage, where she was active in the National Center for Equine Facilitated Therapy. Her husband Amory “Jack” Hearst, died 4 years prior to her on 15th September 2008, after being bed ridden for a long time.
