Mirae developed exchange-traded funds that are particularly popular. The country’s largest asset-management company today, Mirae Asset was forced to close its first overseas branch (Hong Kong) in 2013. The dipping trend continued, and in November 2013, Koo Jae-Sang quit as CEO of Mirae Global Investments. Park Hyeon-Joo earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Korea University and attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2002. In 2014, Mirae Asset launched Horizons Korea KOSPI 200 ETF, the lowest cost Korea ETF in the U.S. market, featuring the broadest Korean index exposure. That same year, Park Hyeon-Joo rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange.
