He co-founded Japanese animation and computer graphics studio Group TAC in 1968. Tomita released his first album Jungle Taitei Symphonic Poem in 1966. He has released over 40 albums with his latest being 2008’s Kaabei. His 1974 album Snowflakes are Dancing consisted of his arrangements of Claude Debussy’s tone paintings on a Moog synthesizer and was nominated for four Grammy Awards in 1975. He made use of analog music sequences and often featured futuristic science fiction themes. His work has been played in the background of Disney theme parks.
