In January 2012, Welch was crowned the winner of the ninth series of Celebrity Big Brother. A self-confessed alcoholic Welch has also suffered from depression, which was exacerbated by the birth of her first child. She tried to commit suicide by attempting to jump out of the window of her flat, and subsequently fell into a bout with alcoholism and drug abuse. In April 2010, her autobiography Pulling Myself Together was published, in which she describes how she overcame her problems with alcohol, drugs and depression.
