After six years, Shaw started to work for Morgan Stanley, and two years later, he launched his own firm, D.E. Shaw & Co. Today his fund has $55 billion in assets under management. He was twice appointed to the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, first by President Clinton (1994) and second by President Obama (2009). Since 2001, Show turned his work to scientific research in computational biochemistry. He currently serves as the Chief Scientist of D.E. Shaw Research.
